How to Measure Your Kitchen
Send these measurements with photos and we can prepare a cabinet layout and quotation. Measure to the nearest 1/8 inch, and measure twice.
1. Draw the room
Sketch each wall that will receive cabinets. Mark windows, doors, soffits, and any wall that is not straight. Label the walls A, B, C, and D.
2. Measure wall to wall
- Record the full length of each wall at three heights: above the base cabinets, at countertop height, and near the ceiling.
- Use the smallest of the three numbers for the cabinet run.
- Note the ceiling height and the distance from the floor to the bottom of any soffit.
3. Mark openings and utilities
- Window and door widths, including trim, and the height from the floor to the bottom of the window.
- Locations of the sink plumbing, gas or electric range, refrigerator, and any existing hood.
- Outlets, switches, and vents that must stay reachable.
4. Appliances and clearances
Write down the model and the width, height, and depth of the refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microwave. Leave the appliance openings we specify on the drawing rather than tightening the cabinets against them.
5. What to send
- The sketch with every dimension written on it.
- Photos of each wall, the ceiling, and the existing appliances.
- The finish direction you want: European flat panel, American framed, or a custom mix.
Email the package to kelly@bestcabinetfloor.com. We reply with a layout and a quotation within 24 hours.
